How to navigate OkCupid and find matches

DoubleTake shows you the profile information of one potential match at a time. It shows photos and highlights each member’s personality and profile -- whether a love for politics, craft beer, dogs, the outdoors, or art.

You can Like or Pass profiles right from DoubleTake, or if you want to take more time, you can click through to the full profile.

If someone has sent you an intro, you'll see their intro in DoubleTake along with their photo and profile information.

You'll see profiles on DoubleTake that match your basic Looking For info, and who are also looking for someone like you. We also show you people with a higher match percentage when possible.  Looking For includes age, location, gender, and orientation. DoubleTake does not filter based on specific Match Questions you've answered, interests you've selected, or other parameters.

Match Search

Tired of swiping?  Match Search/ Browse Matches is the best way to find, filter, and sort matches if you know exactly what you want (and what you don’t want). In addition to basic info like age and location, you can also sort by whether someone is a smoker, a pet owner, a parent, and more. Once you've set your parameters, you can look through grids of photo thumbnails  until someone catches your eye and you want to look further.

Sorting Your Results
Whatever your interests, you can use the “Order By” dropdown to choose how your matches are ranked and presented to you.
If you’re not sure, try sorting by our “Special Blend”. We’ll look at many different things—more than just match percentage and last login time—and show some great matches that might not otherwise have shown up. “Special Blend” is the default sort method, but you can always select a different sorting method on a per-search basis.

A-List-Only Options
Some options in Match Search are A-List exclusive search options, such as sorting by question answer. If you’re not A-List and you try to use those filters, they will not apply to your search results.
The "attractiveness" rating is one of these A-list only sorting options; “attractiveness” is based on the number of ‘Likes’ you receive from other members.  Don't worry, we're not judging you on looks alone- remember, we always show your profile information next to your photo, because we know you're more than just a selfie.

Showing Interest

Liking people is a great way to let them know that you're interested! When you like someone, it lets us know you’re interested in them, so we make an effort to show you to them around OkCupid much more often, so they have a chance to see you and like you back. And when you both like each other, we always let both of you know, for free.

You can Like people by:

  • Choosing them in DoubleTake on the app by sliding their picture to the right
  • Choosing them in DoubleTake on the web by clicking the heart button
  • Clicking Like on their profile on either the web or the app

Read more about Liking here.

Finding people you Like

You can find people you’ve Liked by clicking the heart icon at the top of any page on OkCupid on the web. On the app, tap on the heart icon in the bottom navigation row (star icon on older versions of the app), and then on "You Like".

Finding people who have liked you

If you and another user Like each other, we’ll always let both of you know, for free.
Seeing a full list of people who Like you is an A-List only feature. If you are A-List, you will see the full list of people who like you as an extra tab next to the list of who you like.
